CREATIVE MOVEMENT

Creative movement is a style of dance taught to younger children. Movement is one of the first forms of communication. Starting at infancy children love to move. Creative movement helps students use their imagination and express themselves through music. They learn to communicate feelings, images, and ideas through movement. Children perceive the world through their senses. All senses are engaged when children explore different aspects of movement. Creative movement increases social skills where children learn as they explore movement together. Cognitive learning is stimulated by movement. When children are engaged in creative movement, they are involved in activities that will increase their memory and ability to communicate. It helps students learn body awareness, concentration, self-control, and respect. They will develop a great self-esteem. They learn self-expression as well.

 JAZZ

Jazz teaches fundamental ballet at a faster pace to more modern music. Students learn structure and discipline while having fun. Styles vary from lyrical, classical, contemporary, and funk. Movements in jazz are usually big and exaggerated. The movements convey an attitude to the audience depending on the music.  Jazz is often used on Broadway and in movies. It is a popular form of dance.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop is one the most popular forms of dance used today. It is often used in music videos, concerts, on tv, and in movies. It is a stylized form of dance that incorporates jazz and funk. Students dance to music that contains strong beats. Students dance with an emphasis on accents in the music. Some variations of hip hop are popping and locking.
